Education Challenges in the New School Term

This week marked the official opening of most schools in our region, but the start of the third term has not been smooth for all. While many institutions welcomed students back, some public schools remain closed due to a teachers’ strike over inadequate pay. This disruption is particularly concerning as students prepare for critical final and promotional exams during this term.

The ongoing strike highlights the urgent need for fair compensation for educators, who play a vital role in shaping our future. We are actively engaging in negotiations with the affected teachers, urging them to resume classes while the government addresses their salary concerns. However, the delay in reopening could jeopardize students’ academic performance, as a strong start is essential for success in these pivotal exams.

We remain hopeful that swift resolutions will allow all schools to reopen soon, ensuring students have the support they need to excel. Let us continue to advocate for both quality education and fair treatment for our teachers.
